Introducing the Ghostface Killah (no one could get illah)

As I sit and listen to the latest Ghostface album “Fish Scale”, I realize the Ghostface is my favorite MC at the moment. In an old school sense I feel that he is the only TRUE MC in the game right now. If you look at over all numbers he isn’t the most successful, but in my opinion Ghostface is telling stories and painting pictures with his lyrics in a time where hooks and beats reign supreme. It’s truly sad.

I immediatley became a Wu-Tang fan when I first heard “Enter the 36 Chambers”. During that time it seemed we were hit over the head with Meth and ODB and all the other members just let them do their thing. Ghost was there he had somr hot verses like:

For cryin out loud my style is wild so book me
Not long is how long that this rhyme took me
Ejectin, styles from my lethal weapon
My pen that rocks from here to oregon
Here’s mordigan, catch it like a psycho flashback
I love gats, if rap was a gun, you wouldn’t bust back
I come with shit that’s all types of shapes and sounds
And where i lounge is my stompin grounds
I give a order to my peeps across the water
To go and snatch up props all around the border
And get far like a shootin star
Cause who i are, is dim in the light of pablo escobar
Point blank as i kick the square biz
There it is you’re fuckin with pros and there it goes

But at that time he was still over shadowed by many of the other members of the group.

The first song with Ghostface that really stood out to me was “I can’t go to sleep” on the W album. This is probably my favortie Ghostface track even though it is technically on a Wu album.

Technique is ill son, watch how i spill one
Peace to biggie tupac big l and big pun
Havoc on the streets of staten, snitches
House niggaz children watch as they produce the same pattern
Somebody raped our women, murdered our babies
Hit us with the cracks and guns in the early 80’s
For those that murdered me shall stand before god
To fall at the hands of fate, then out comes the rod

I still throw that on repeat…just sick….

I slacked of on my music buying for a while and then I hooked up with a certain DJ who will remain nameless and built an online presence for a DJ crew that will also remain nameless. I started getting music from labels and one day I got “Bullet Proof Wallets”.

It was the beauty that caught me and held my soul hostage
‘member those days had you smellin my boxes
Old gold up in the hood and big dup
We could push through the grimiest streets, then throw it up
Like “that’s my nigga!”
Anybody got somethin bad to say, son’ll come through and deliver
Brushin off his 88 clocks, y’all can’t touch him
I bet a wad on it, y’all can’t fuck with him
Semi-shy, and i’m laid back, crystal hats
Heard ya water broke i was like “phewww” and ran back
I ran back fast, broke my arm in the mix
To find out that bird nigga tappin my shit
It’s alright ‘do, maybe he came up with the right dough
Bigger dick, i don’t know, must have been the best flow
This thing here, ever man in the world goes through
But fuck that, i put alotta money up, i’m hatin!

It was at this point and time that I realized that in the early Wu-Tang days Ghostface was just chillin in the back waiting for his time to shine. Since them I got “The Pretty Toney Album” which I feel didn’t get as much love as it should have.

How the fuck she get the codes… I don’t know
Next thing, she layin’ in the ‘tel lobby, spotted me
Tippin’ the doorman, holdin’ hands with my bitch besides me
My heart drop, everything stops, scared to death
Told my broad to keep it moving, cuz I just got knocked
Don’t turn around, as soon she did, she bust a shot
Plus she talk, security drop when she touch the glock
I had the gum-face on, long face on
Didn’t say shit, not even cough or spit, my bitch was gone
There goes the car, house, rhyme boats or jewelry
Court date judges, my shorty tried to screw me

Now I’m on “Fish Scale” and Ghostface has not disappointed. Atleast not me.
