Today I ran the Oh Nellie 5K. The proceeds of this 5k go towards a scholarship fund at the Nellie H. Woodruff school of Nursing at Emory University. My mom got her Masters from there so I had to support it (plus I’m preparing for the Peachtree Road Race).

Well I’ve just recently got back into running a little less than a month ago….it’d been 6-7 years since my last run. I’d been doing pretty good…did 3 miles one day last week…so I just knew I was ready for Nellie.

WRONG!!!!

Man it was cold (57 degrees), raining and I had about 3 hours sleep (thats a whoooole ‘nother blog post). I was good when I started I was strolling along cause we were going downhill…but as you if there are downhills your gonna have to come back up sooner or later. Needless to say Nellie kicked my a$$.

Well I ended up finishing in about 30 minutes and was soaking wet and my calfs were locked up…and guess what…I’ll be doing it again….

I guess i’m just a glutton for punishment…
